Engineered for high-viscosity resins, chemical melts, and specialty cosmetic waxes
Meeting the modern demands for high-efficiency, clean-room compliant, and fully automated cosmetic wax processing.
The global personal care and cosmetics sector has experienced a dramatic surge in demand for high-quality depilatory products. Traditionally, depilatory waxes—which are formulated from complex mixtures of natural rosins, synthetic resins, beeswax, paraffin, and various modifiers—were cast into large blocks or slabs. However, these traditional formats present significant challenges for end-users, including slow melting cycles, difficult dosing, and high labor costs during preparation.
Today, the industry is rapidly transitioning to depilatory wax pastilles (beans). These small, uniform, free-flowing pellets melt rapidly and evenly, allowing salons and home consumers to measure exact portions. To produce these premium pastilles at scale, manufacturers rely on advanced Steel Belt Cooler pastillation lines. The steel belt cooler serves as the heart of this process, providing precise thermal management to solidify sticky cosmetic formulations without compromising their chemical integrity or aroma properties.
From an industrial perspective, the integration of a steel belt cooler with a downstream automated packaging line represents a major advancement in efficiency. By eliminating manual handling, manufacturers can guarantee a contamination-free product, satisfy stringent cosmetic GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards, and achieve continuous 24/7 output.
How precise temperature control and continuous dropforming create the perfect cosmetic pastille.
The liquid wax melt is fed into a high-precision dropformer. The dropformer distributes the liquid wax through nozzle holes, forming uniform droplets across the entire width of the moving stainless steel belt.
Water spray nozzles beneath the steel belt spray cooling water against the underside of the stainless steel belt. The heat is rapidly transferred from the wax to the steel belt and into the cooling water, with zero contact between water and product.
Once solidified, the pastilles are cleanly discharged by a scraper and conveyed directly to automated weighing, bagging, and cartoning stations, minimizing ambient dust and preserving product purity.
Depilatory waxes are highly sensitive to thermal history. If cooled too quickly, they can become brittle and fracture during packaging. If cooled too slowly, they remain sticky, causing agglomeration in the bags. A high-performance steel belt cooler solves this challenge by utilizing multi-stage cooling zones.
Each cooling zone along the length of the steel belt can be temperature-regulated independently. The initial zone maintains a moderate temperature to allow the molten wax droplets to settle and wet the belt slightly, ensuring a flat base. The middle zones feature intensive cooling to accelerate crystallization, while the final zone tempers the pastilles to the optimal discharge temperature, preventing condensation and ensuring the wax beans detach cleanly without cracking or sticking.
Furthermore, the high thermal conductivity of the premium stainless steel belt ensures rapid heat dissipation, allowing for higher belt speeds and significantly increased throughput compared to alternative plastic or rubber belt systems.
Many modern depilatory waxes contain natural rosins and polymers that make them exceptionally tacky. Standard cooling methods fail because the product adheres to the cooling surface. Our steel belt coolers feature specialized release agent application systems and custom-tailored discharge scraper blades.
By applying a micro-thin, cosmetic-grade release agent to the steel belt surface, we guarantee that even the stickiest formulations release effortlessly. The precision-aligned scraper blade at the discharge end gently lifts the solid wax pastilles from the belt, preserving their hemispherical shape and preventing the formation of fines or dust, which can cause issues during the packaging stage.
Pioneering independent steel belt pastillation and solidification systems since 2000.
Steel belt pastillator technology originated in Europe during the 1980s and entered the Chinese market in the late 1990s. Initially, due to its high cost, only a handful of large enterprises purchased and utilised it. To break the monopoly of foreign equipment, we commenced independent research and development of steel belt condensation pastillator as early as 2000.
Steel belt pastillators are primarily applied across multiple sectors including petrochemicals, daily chemical products, fine chemicals, and agricultural fertilizers.
Over two decades, we have served hundreds of clients ranging from multinational corporations to small start-ups, offering multifaceted advice based on extensive experience. Through user engagement, we have continuously refined designs, rapidly iterated products, and developed numerous peripheral auxiliary devices.
Providing pre-sales testing and process validation for custom depilatory wax formulations.
Since establishing our dynamic laboratory in 2010, our company has provided pre-sales testing services to every client, offering crucial validation for their process flows and parameters.
Concurrently, we have forged long-term research collaborations with numerous domestic enterprises and academic institutions, fostering mutual exchange and learning. We assist clients in developing new products, researching relevant process equipment, and conducting theoretical and practical validation services.
For depilatory wax manufacturers, this laboratory testing is invaluable. We can simulate exact cooling profiles, determine the optimal dropformer nozzle geometry for your specific wax viscosity, and establish the precise cooling water temperatures required to achieve maximum throughput and perfect pastille quality before you make any capital investment.
Our testing facilities are equipped with pilot-scale steel belt coolers, allowing us to process trial batches of your proprietary wax blends. We measure physical parameters such as solidification rate, pastille height-to-width ratio, and release characteristics under varying belt speeds and ambient temperatures.
By leveraging this empirical data, we custom-engineer your full-scale production line, eliminating processing risks and ensuring a rapid start-up when the equipment is installed at your factory.
Seamless transition from solidified pastilles to retail-ready packaging.
A high-speed steel belt cooler can produce tons of depilatory wax pastilles per hour. Without an equally efficient downstream packaging system, the discharge area quickly becomes a bottleneck. Our integrated packaging lines are custom-designed to match the exact output of the pastillator, ensuring a continuous, automated flow of product.
The solidified pastilles fall from the scraper onto a food-grade, anti-static inclined belt conveyor. Anti-static properties are critical here, as plastic and resin-based waxes easily build static charges during cooling and scraping, causing them to cling to conveyor walls. The conveyor transports the beans to a buffer hopper located above the packaging machine.
From the buffer hopper, the pastilles are fed into a computer-controlled multi-head weigher. This system measures the exact target weight (typically ranging from 100g bags for retail to 5kg bags for salon bulk supply) with milligram precision. Once weighed, the batch is released into a Vertical Form-Fill-Seal (VFFS) machine, which forms the bag from a roll of film, seals the bottom, fills it with pastilles, and seals the top.
For premium cosmetic brands, we also integrate gas flushing (nitrogen injection) to displace oxygen within the bag, preventing the oxidation of natural ingredients and extending the shelf life of the wax. The entire line is governed by a unified PLC system, allowing operators to monitor the status of both the cooler and the packaging machines from a single touchscreen HMI.
